HOLY CROSS HOSPITAL

The mountain community of Taos need to expand and upgrade its local hospital, but had very strict requirements concerning the building’s appearance. It was imperative that the design match the existing southwest adobe architecture, including details such as heavy timber portale walkways, while still meeting all functional requirements. The project featured the addition of a new Pharmacy, Outpatient Surgery Center, and patient rooms. Every major department of the hospital was expanded and/or renovated, and new canopies were added at the outpatient and ER entrances. These upgrades have greatly enhanced the hospital’s resources and services available to the community, while respecting the surrounding context.
