This project, which became the first LEED Certified project for Metro Nashville Public Schools, included renovations throughout the existing building and three separate additions. A total of 17 new classrooms were added, including new Art and Music rooms as well as 3rd and 4th grade classrooms. The dining area was expanded to accommodate the additional students. One of the primary goals of this project was to become LEED Certified. Sustainable design strategies included providing individual thermal controls in each classroom, increasing natural daylight, installing light fixtures with adjustable light levels, and installing water-efficient plumbing fixtures. All of these choices provide long-term energy savings as well as meeting LEED requirements.
