This revitalization of a historic 1937 neighborhood school presented several design challenges. The project featured a 20,000 SF addition that included new Kindergarten classrooms, Administration Offices, Media Center, Community room, and Computer Lab. The existing building was completely renovated with new finishes, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and fire protection systems, and other life safety and ADA upgrades. HMKA’s design allowed the school to accommodate 21st century systems, technology, and educational programs while respecting and preserving the Art Deco design of the original building.
