Winder First Baptist Church

Winder, Georgia is transitioning from a small town to an exurban community of Atlanta, and First Baptist Church resolved itself to be prepared to help their incoming neighbors to encounter the good news of Jesus. As part of this mission, they determined not only that their building’s exterior appearance not match the church inside but that they were in dire need of space for fellowship and kids ministry space that was not only larger but accessible, safe, and age appropriate. This led to a concept that allowed for a kids space with drop-off entry below a new multi-purpose fellowship and connection space that connected the various levels of the existing church building. This also included additional adult small group spaces and relocation and expansion of student ministry space. A coffee station was added as well to give a hospitable welcome to first-time guests and long time members alike. The design takes into account considerations for future expansion as the Winder community continues to thrive.
