Antioch Middle School

HMKA was engaged to renovate and modernize the Antioch Middle School campus. The project involved renovations and additions to meet several design objectives. One of the major project goals was to create a cohesive aesthetic among the separate buildings on the campus. This was accomplished by redesigning and adding new entrances at key locations, and by adding connectors to link the three separate buildings. Another important goal was to improve safety and traffic flow by moving the main entrance away from the main road. Other design components included a modernized media center, new cafeteria and kitchen, new administrative offices, and new main entrance canopy. The building systems and building envelope were completely upgraded throughout for energy efficiency. The project was certified LEED Silver by the U.S. Green Building Council.
