Harris Regional Cancer Center

Following the belief that quality cancer care should be accessible to the sleepy mountain hamlet of Sylva, North Carolina and surrounding communities, Harris Regional Medical Center engaged HMK Architects to update and expand their existing outpatient oncology center with the addition of a new vault to house a modern linear accelerator. The existing space was transformed with new finishes throughout to mirror the practice’s commitment to quality care. A key design consideration included a self-playing piano in the building’s lobby that makes patients feel calm and comfortable as they wait.
