Texas Neuro Rehab Center

Texas NeuroRehab Center is an acute medical and behavioral rehabilitation hospital spread across multiple buildings on a park-like campus in Austin, Texas.  This project provided a new freestanding kitchen and dining building to replace the hospital’s previous outdated and undersized kitchen facility. A new kitchen was designed to improve workflows, and a carefully oriented dining room maximizes views to the surrounding campus and allows abundant natural light into the space. Cost restraints dictated a simple building geometry and roofline; however the use of a variety of materials already found on other buildings across the campus helped integrate the new dining facility into the aesthetic of the existing campus without being a replica of previous projects.
